Zenon Greek School 2022

Dear parents, students, and families,

We welcome you all, past and new families to our 2022 academic year at Zenon!

We are excited that our classes will be running face-to-face in the classroom this year as decided by the Department of Education. We are positive that our students will continue their learning uninterrupted and effectively, enjoying learning at school, developing friendships and physically participating in all language and cultural activities, Greek dancing and all that Zenon is preparing for them.
The teachers are all excited and waiting to meet the students on their first lesson and they are already participating in a Professional Development conference this weekend.

Our first day - Vasilopita - The Lucky New Year's Cake: Our first day will be a special one as we will cut the Vasilopita, the traditional New Year's cake which symbolises good luck and prosperity in the year.

Greek school start dates and times:
Malvern Valley Primary (Abbotsford Ave, Malvern E.)
Friday 4th Febr - Time: 5:00-8:00pm
Saturday 5th Febr - 9:30am-12:30pm

Glen Eira College (76 Booran Str, Caulfield)
Monday 7th Febr - 5:00-8:00pm

Phoenix Park (Malvern E.)
Tuesday 8th Febr - 4:00-6:30pm

Our program:
Our program will run for all Year levels, starting from 3/4 year-old Kinder right through to Year 12.
A Greek Studies Certificate is also available for students who pursue studies up to Year 11 / Year 12 for social, cultural and personal reasons and don't want to sit for a VCE score. The benefits for students of continuing and completing their studies are huge and we aim to provide them with opportunities to succeed and feel proud of their identity.

A playgroup for toddlers and younger children will soon be soon running on Saturday mornings.

GREEK DANCING: We are delighted that Mr Sotiris Sotiriou from Pegasus Dance school will be running our Greek dancing program.
Mr Sotiriou will be present at the school this week and will welcome the children with an exciting first dancing experience.

ADVICE - SHOES: Please ensure that the children come to Greek school wearing closed shoes or runners. No sandals or thongs allowed as these are not safe for dancing.

COVID Policies-
  • Covid-19 policy: This policy is in place as guided by the Department of Education and enables us to operate safely and for the benefit of all students, staff and families. Details following this link - https://zenon-education.org.au/about-zenon/our-policies/covid-safe-policy/
  • QR code: Our QR code will be displayed outside the school entrance for any emergency visitor (with updated vaccination certificate requirement).
  • Child Safe policy and Emergency Management plan: these are in place to protect students and staff and are updated every year. Our school staff are trained in these areas.
  • Vaccinations: All Zenon staff are fully vaccinated, including the booster shots.
  • Sanitisers: We advise that students have their own sanitizer in their bag to use when needed. Sanitisers will also be provided in the school areas and students will be reminded to sanitise their hands regularly, especially before eating their snacks, after coming inside from recess and when using the bathrooms.
  • Covid cleaning: A deep Covid cleaning will be taking place before classes begin in areas that used by our students and staff during our sessions.
