2016 Zenon School Concert
Year 2016 has been particularly successful for Zenon, with several activities being enjoyed by our students and families. One such extraordinary activity was the annual School Concert that took place in November 2016 at the Auditorium of the City of Glen Eira. More than 300 parents, grandparents and friends enjoyed the on-stage performance by our students without any intervention by staff. The theme was titled “The Myth of Persephone” and was based on the story of Hades who abducted Persephone.
All students took part and hundreds of costumes were made for them to understand and impersonate their roles. Everyone cheered at the performance and left with a sense of achievement, since for the first time Zenon students have shown what their capabilities are. The whole production was directed by Mrs Helen Koutroulis with the assistance of all other teaching staff.
In order to see some of the smiles on students’ faces and witness their satisfaction visit this page, where most of the photographs from the concert are being displayed. We assure you, that you will be amazed.
The whole concert was performed in the Greek language with sporadic use of Ancient Greek; from the narrator to the very last young kinder student. For more information and a short video of the performance please link to this page.
2016 Greek National Day
Again this year we have taken part in the Greek Independence march to the Shrine of Remembrance in Melbourne. The parents who brought their children had a wonderful day as the weather was fine, and the children have learned where they come from, and why it is important to remember.
A very big thank you to all parents who have listened to Zenon’s call to come. There was a turnout we did not expect for our school and that is important. Thank you also to the teachers Riana Kousouris, Irida Fillolis, Sophia Tsiordas and of course our Principle Andrea Garivaldis.
There was a very nice article on Neos Kosmos which we provide here for you to read as some of the classes at school will analyse what it means and how those people lost their lives for us to be free today.
