Kyria Haroula – Kinder Students

As part of  celebrating ‘Apokries’ a traditional Greek carnival celebration, the kinder children had fun  participating in art & craft experiences, decorating and colouring ‘Apokriatikes maskes’ in our Zenon Classes and colouring images of Αποκριάτικες ζωγραφιές!
We then used the masks to create movements to the beat of a rhythm of various ‘αποκριάτικα τραγούδια και χορούς!’
We also learned various other songs and played group games in Greek, such as:
  • Μια ωραία πεταλούδα
  • Αχ κουνελάκι
  • Φεγγαράκι μου λαμπρό
  • Χαρωπά τα δυο μου χέρια τα χτυπώ
  • Ποιο είναι το όνομα σου, πώς σε λένε;
  • Καλημέρα τι κάνεις;
  • Γύρω γύρω όλοι
  • Η μικρή Ελένη
  • Τι ωραίο μήλο

Ms Penny – Prep students

Today in our class we celebrated the Greek carnival season, Apokries, through the creation of masks and dancing.

Our afternoon also included a Greek story, learning new songs, counting and the Greek alphabet. Students also began to engage in basic speaking tasks with their peers. The children also received their new Zenon book from our principal, Mrs Andrea. Attached is a photo of our class wearing their masks celebrating Apokries.

Homework for the children: Complete the pages on the letter Ιι (iota) in your new book. Practise saying the Greek alphabet.

Please note: There is No Greek class next week (Friday 3rd March) due to the Malvern Valley Carnival. We will see you again on Friday 10th March.
