Greek National Day Parade 2023

It was a beautiful day, especially for our younger students

Dear parents / students, today we had a wonderful day, even though it was a little slow to start off. Zenon Students paraded in Lakeside Stadium and showed how proud they are for their heritage. We thank you all wholeheartedly for taking the time to come to a difficult to find parking place of Melbourne and endured all to make it a success for Zenon Greek School and our students.

Please enjoy some of the photos from the event below. We’re sure as parents you have your own photos and you should feel proud! Thank you again for your participation.

Teachers who took part and assisted in the success are –

  • Martha Yannakou
  • Rania Kousouris
  • Haroula Kontsiotis
  • Eddie MacQuillan
  • Andria Garivaldis
  • Iakovos Garivaldis

Also the mothers who volunteered to assist our teachers we we extend to them our very special appreciation! The more parents are close to Zenon the better it is for our students.

Details about Zenon family involvement at the event

We would like to thank all parents who have taken it upon themselves to bring their children to the parade. We do hope it will be rewarding for all. We will do our best to make sure everything goes smoothly. We will have enough teachers for all students to be catered for, but if any parents are willing to assist please let us know. There are about 60 of our students participating and it is very satisfying to see. We will need to mark everyone on and off the roster so please when you arrive on the day come and see us (Zenon school is allocated number 23), either our Principal Andria Garivaldis or Mr Iakovos Garivaldis.

All students need to be wearing their Zenon Polo tops, dark blue or black skirt for the girls and dark blue or black long pants for the boys. No runners or thongs please. School shoes are very good. You can bring some change of clothes also to use after the event which should complete by 3.00pm. Greek traditional costumes are also welcome.

Please arrive by 12:30pm at the very latest outside the stadium at Palms Lawn (marked on the map in brown color), to have everyone in the allocated space on time. Drop off point for cars is along Aquatic Drive close to the lake.

Also please bring a water bottle for each child, a hat and a sandwitch.

These are the details for this year’s Greek National day parade.

As noted beforehand the venue where the parade will take place has changed this year. It will be held at the Lakeside Stadium, 33 Aughtie Drive, Albert Park, commencing at 1.00pm SHARP. For those who don’t know it, this is the South Melbourne soccer club stadium. It is big enough to house the parade and has ample parking around the stadium and in the surrounding streets.

For more information please see the literature provided to us by the Greek National Day committee below, including mapping where the entry points to the stadium are and the drop off point. Please contact us if you have any further questions.
