Vasilopita Day 2019

Vasilopita Day – Its this time of the year again. When all the books are dusted and the pencils are sharpened, uniforms are washed and ironed and student smiles move out of the home and into classrooms.

However for Greek language school students its the start of a new exciting year with a very Greek tradition, handed down by our forefathers with a lot of meaning. It is the Vasilopita, not to forget the coin that it contains. Everyone gets involved, everyone is hoping to find the coin, even if it takes breaking up the piece they get before they eat it.

Monday Classes were no different this year. All children embraced the day, but unfortunately only one of them could win it. Well it was George Bogdanis day and his lucky year as the saying goes. Congratulations George… hope its going to be a rewarding year for you 2019.

But all the rest of us can also have a wonderful and rewarding year. It is up to us to make the most of it. Put your head inside your books and hold your pencils tight. Once you do that, it is bound to provide successes ! Good Luck !
